Recently, users have reported that their windows crash suddenly and show event ID 7023 error on their event viewer. The event ID 7023 error which crashes windows for users, indicates that window services like “connected devices platform service” or “windows process activation” service are disabled or terminated. Let’s look at the possible solutions for this error.
Method 1: Run SFC and DISM scan
It is quite common for Event ID 7023 error to occur due to corruption in the system. Luckily, windows come with built-in troubleshooting solutions which require little to no user input. The first thing to do when you come across this error is run SFC and DISM scan. SFC scan repairs the system’s file and DISM scan repairs the system’s images to fix the event ID 7023 error.
- Type cmd in the search bar below and choose Run as administrator to launch the command prompt window.
- Inside the command prompt window, type sfc/scannow and press enter. (it will resolve any detected issues)
- Open the command prompt window again by following mentioned steps and type the following commands to run DISM scan and hit enter.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Once done, restart your system and check if the error is resolved.
Method 2: Enable Connected Devices Platform Service
Event error ID 7023 can occur if “Connected Devices Platform Service” is disabled or not working properly. You can fix event viewer errors by enabling the connected devices platform service.
- Press windows+R keys simultaneously on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
- Type ‘services.msc’ in the open dialog box and press enter to open the services window.
- Locate connected devices platform service and double-click on it to open its properties.
- Select Automatic (Delayed start) from startup type dropdown.
- Hit start in the service status if the service is disabled.
- Save changes by pressing an apply and ok button. Then restart your device.
Repeat the same steps for ‘Windows Process Activation Service’ and check if the service is enabled.
Method 3: Enable Network Connection Broker Service
If you were unable to enable connected devices platform service, then check its dependent services like network connection broker service is running properly or not.
- Open the services window by following mentioned steps.
- Locate the Network connection broker service and double-click on it to open its properties.
- Select the Automatic option on the dropdown menu of startup type.
- Hit start in the service status if the service is disabled.
- Save changes by pressing the apply and ok button.
Repeat the same steps for ‘TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service to enable it, if it’s disabled. This should resolve the event ID 7023 error on windows 10.
Method 4: Restart the service
If the connected devices platform service was already enabled, try restarting it. This will help in resolving the event viewer error.
- Open services window, locate connected devices platform service, and double-click on it by following the above-mentioned steps.
- Go to Recovery and select Restart the service from the subsequent failure drop-down menu.
- Hit apply and ok to save the changes.
One other solution that users have suggested is enabling the share across devices option on your system.
- Press windows +I keys simultaneously to open settings on windows 10.
- Click on system< shared experiences and locate share across devices.
- Turn the toggle on if it’s off. Then check, if the error is resolved.
