However, there is no official word from the developers at Activision regarding what causes this error. But we have identified and shortlisted some of the causes on our own. 

One reason for your Dev Error 6036 could be a corrupted patch file or update. The programmers at Activision are human as well and are not safe from bugs and inefficiencies in their code. One slip-up could cause the game to break completely for some unlucky player.

Dev Error 6036 has been fixed by players by refreshing the data folder of their game and using the battle.net client to fix their game. This hints at the cause to be a corrupted or broken core game file. The corruption could be caused by any number of reasons and Activision cannot be blamed for this. 

Another cause identified through our research is background applications using too much of the system memory i.e RAM. The dev error 6036 popups have been seen to be triggered by this case as well. 

The dev error 6036 is recurring and Activision has not been able to patch this in all its releases as of yet. The reason behind it may be the low percentage of occurrence, however, a game-breaking error like this should be addressed by the people at Activision soon.

How to fix CoD Warzone – Dev Error 6036

The gamer community is always sure to come together to solve issues when faced with bugs and errors. The Warzone community has been the same. Here is a list of fixes claimed by the community at large to fix the dev error 6036.

Delete the Data folder

This method does the same as the second one in our list i.e re-updates the game. Follow the steps below:

  1. Close the CoD Warzone game if it is running.
  2. Go to the installation directory/folder of your CoD Warzone game.
  3. Find and delete the Data folder in the main directory/folder.
  4. Launch the game from the Battle.net client.
  5. You will get an error saying that the game is corrupt. At this point select the update option being presented.

Force the game to re-update

This method was shared in the official Activision forum for CoD Warzone. You must delete specific individual files from the CoD Warzone installation directory/folder. Follow the steps below:

  1. Close the CoD Warzone game if it is running.
  2. Go to the installation directory/folder of your CoD Warzone game.
  3. Delete all the files within the folder except Blizzardbrowser, Data, and Main.
  4. Launch the game from the Battle.net client.
  5. You will get an error saying that the game is corrupt. At this point select the update option being presented.

Disable Cache Spot and Cache Sun Shadows

For a few lucky players, the issue can be solved easily by changing a few settings in the CoD Warzone menu. Follow the steps below:

  1. Launch the game from the Battle.net client
  2. Click on Options and select the Graphics tab
  3. Scroll down to Cache Spot and disable it
  4. Scroll down to Cache Sun Shadows and disable it
